I wish my name was Baggins 12-29-2002 10:49 PM

I do wonder how it is possible for Kahlid to have any pride at all as a man being married to a woman who runs him so... But my serious question would be about her polymorphing into the two bears and the wolf...aside from the wolf being a quick way to scout ahead does any of these different forms actually serve a purpose...she seems to me to get weaker or slower than she is with her weapons...I just don't see the purpose....Am I wrong????

I think as a bear she gets more strength (18 if I'm not mistaken. I'm sure I read it somewhere).

I think Khalid has a serious inferiority complex, to be honest. If you read his bio though it sort of explains why, with his father treating him that way... The opposite is true about Jaheira, read her bio and it explains why she's so stubborn and independent. You can tell who wears the trousers in that household.

Carrying on from this I'd like to ask a few questions which are related: Does the polymorph cloak act the same way as the polymorph ability? Cos when I take it off they still seem polymorphed. Does it wear away with time or is it a bug?
Also, when Jaheira is polymorphed as a wolf, do other animals think she's a fellow animal? Or can they smell her as human? Same applies for humans...

Well I can tell you that with the Cloak of the Wolf, if you're polymorphed into a wolf you're still recognized as a human. The same probably goes for the Druid's Shapechange ability.

The problem with Polymorphing is that it seems great at low levels, when you can gain things like getting a faster running speed from your Wolf form, or a brutal melee attack from your Bear form--but the animal form cannot improve with levels, EVER. So, sure, when Jaheira finally hits Levels 6/7 and can turn into a Brown Bear, it's pretty cool, but a Jaheira who stays in Half-Elf form (thus retaining her armor, shield, and weapons) is much more powerful. So things like Shapeshifting would be useful if your gear was stolen or whatever, but apart from that, it's only of minimal usefulness. There are some additional forms in BG2, though, and some of these have some very interesting abilities.

The Cloak of the Wolf wears off with time--a couple of hours of game time, or something like that. You can still talk to people while Polymorphed into a Wolf, so I think it's fun to Polymorph the whole party and then go shopping. One use of this Cloak might be: If your Mage has run out of spells for the day and he doesn't have any more Darts or Bullets, you might as well turn him into a Wolf for a while.

Thanks 6 of Spades. The reason I asked if it was a bug is because I discovered a way to change back to human/half-elf form just after I had removed the cloak. So I wasn't sure which one was the bug. Now I know, I wont use it.

because khalid is such a pansey, my usual tactic is... as soon as i recruit jaheira and khalid, I go to the area north of the Friendly Amn Inn. I send Khalid on a brave and daring solo rush into the ankhegs while the rest of my party goes and recruits the paladin in the west of that area. (ps. send khalid on a bare fist rush or you will have to brave the ankhegs yourself you get his gear back). Jaheira has a brief whine about his (unfortunate ?) demise but after that it's all plain sailing. afterall... how was I to know the mighty Khalid couldn't handle 3 ankhegs alone and barehanded ?
