This was something I just thought of, and didn't really think of it the first time. Has anyone tried it or know if you cast freeze on a mantrap, and be able to attack them with close range weapons(fists http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif] I think that will be my next try when I get to Ishad Na next time. Peace

Do let us know how it goes!
I never tried it. I rather like the rush and gush method of dealing with Mantraps. http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif Wyv |

The only time I've tried hand-2-hand with a mantrap is when my main wizard runs out of spells or it's the last one and it's health is very low.

I agree with Wyv, I like the slice and dice strategy. When I first encountered the mantraps (a few days after the game came out, and before I had discovered my infamous gold cheat!), I was around level 6 or so. Like most, I just saw a green blur, a cloud of poison smoke, then I was dead. I first killed the mantraps by rushing them one at a time and beating them senseless with swords and spears. Only later did I use spells just to save some time. Oddly enough, when I was near the end of the game I found some wandering Jungle Lillies near the Leprecaun's place, and I fought them hand to hand. My party took a beating, but there were 3 or 4 lillies and we wiped them out. I think its a grand challenge...so if you're strong enough, rush the Mantraps and fight fight fight! Easier said than done, I know. http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif Scronan |
Oh I died many times with the first group of Mantraps you meet in the Shire and I certainly wasn't ready at that point for "rush and gush or slice and dice" but by the time they respawned this method seemed to work very well - my first two characters would keep doing weapon attacks making it more difficult for the mantraps to release spells on us while my magic users would use spells which do not also harm the party (probably why I've always favored Elemental Blast over spells like Meteor). The other explanation is that I'm perhaps a bit whacky! http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif
