I spoke to Kol the Heretic shortly after I passed by the Oracle (or at least I think I did - I don't see him listed as someone I've talked to in that characters part of the journal) but I did not get a key from him. I still managed to find my way in to the back entrance of the Serpent Temple, but it sounds like this key is important. Now I can't find good old Kol anywhere. I remember he was in front of the temple, but there's no sign of him now. Any idea where I can find him???

The only thing you'll be missing out on here is access to a statue of Kerah that gives you a little more info on the storyline and an ankh or two on the floor.

You won't see Kol again until you meet up with him in Dragon Spire. Not sure if you can get the key at that time and trek back to the Serpent Temple. ?

Not having it does not affect your ability to finish the game...I missed out on asking him about the key in my fisrt play-through of the area...the option was never in the word list and I was left clueless until I saw something about it here. By then, I was almost finished with the Serpent Temple and just let that one slide.
