I ran into a coven of red wizards in the north. After a little chat, they attacked my good party. Would this play out differently if I had an evil party with Edwin along?

Yup, they don't attack you, because of the fact that Edwin is of their kind.

but as they have some good items its worth killing them anyway (from what i remember the head mage has some worthwhile stuff and you find them in the spider place in the north east i think)

Hi

I got Edwin in my party and I want to kill those red wizards.

I had tried 2 things, and none of them worked satisfactory:

1) Having Edwin in my party: After the dialog with one of the red wizards (he just said something like: Hi Eddie have a nice day), the red wizard just wandered away, not to be seen again. Should I make a quick atack on the non-hostile NPC right after the dialog or ???

2) I tried to remove Edwin from the party before the encounter with the red wizards, but anywhere I tried to remove Edwin, he just wandered off the screen not to be seen again. Is there a special place where I can find Edwin again? I have a Good/Neutral party with a rep. of 20 (Edwin does not like his companions, but stays).

like any char leave em at an inn though possibly some you cant get back, but i think edwin you can, anyhows yeah attack him before he speaks, hes evil so shouldnt hurt your rep at all, hes about 1200 exp i think so worth it, but they cast some nasty spells, advantage with edwin is you can position a man behind each one of the wizards before you start fighting so getting a backstab with thief, spell with mage etc before they know what hit em

drop your reputation, if you drop an evil character (or even a neutral) with an "extreme" reputation (19-20, or 4 or lower for neutrals or good) they will leave for good. I would drop your rep by a few points anyway as Edwin will leave you before long if you've got a 20 rep, that or find a new mage.

Ok - Thanks

What is the easiest (and most controlable) way to make your reputation drop a few points?

Can you make your rep. drop without doing pure evil things (like killing a commoner in a city or killing a guard etc.)?

For dropping your reputation, see table 9b, page 85 of the manual. Getting caught stealing should do it. But I'm not sure how long you are plagued by flaming fools.

you get done once when caught but if your rep is low enough then you start getting plagued at rep 5 i think theres a 5 percent chance but each point down and odds go up till at 0 rep your just getting buttmolested by flaming fist every map you go on, i did it once just to see, its one way to get exp fast but you get no respite still on the plus side you can hack everyone up with no fear of retribution, cos they are already in front of you
