I have a lot of quests for the Serpent Temple, but when I got there, the door wouldn't open. What's up? Also, I climbed up onto the roof of the Serpent Temple looking for a way in, and then jumped off of the back of the roof. I landed in a weird grassy/marsh-like area where I could hardly move (I eventually had to reload). But, before I did reload, I made it far enough to see some strange metallic-looking object that appeared to be a ship of some sort. There may have been a bridge, but I couldn't get any further.

Take the path to the left, follow the path through the small lake, and enter the back door to the Serpent Temple by swimming under the rusty grate.
