Evening everyone. Thankyou in advance for any help I can get and I will try to reciprocate as best I can. I am presently in the Shrine of Anephas, in the Elevator room with the altar and the (eliminated) Royal Mummies. I placed the Statuette of Kerah on the altar and the elevator went up. Except I wasn't expecting that and it won't come back down. How do I make this object of my frustration come back down. I've removed the statuette, left the room, the area, the shrine, undid all the scarab switches, and nothing. Unfortunately, I saved the game thinking I'd foud the holy grail and I really don't want to repeat half the game over again. Please help a poor unfortunate traveller who would much prefer to continue killing bad guys.

I am not sure why the elevator does not go up and down on its own. When I used the statue, there was an elevator that came up, but I just watched and it came back down moments later. I jumped on and rode it up. My problem was finding the switch once I was at the top. (Had to cast Breath of Air before I figured out that there was a lever I was missing.) I did leave the statue on the altar, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Eric, I doesn't look good. That elevator is a bug that is fixed by the patch, but I don't know if it will work once you have already jammed it. Basically, without the patch it is usually a once only trip to see Kerah - ride up, flick the switch, swim out and up to Kerah. Have a chat, activate the portal, swim out to the wee green fella, and back. Those are the things you need to do on this once in a lifetime trip. With the patch you can revisit as often as you like. You could try installing the patch (like I said, no guarantee), or it is back to reload on old game. No better suggestions I am afraid.

This has been a problem bug for many folks.
You can try to revert your game - which isn't the most attractive option having done so much inbetween. Or, if you have a good save from not long before, reload your game. Hope one of these will help, or that loading the patch will bring that lift down. When you do get UP to visit Kerah - be sure to explore the Poral, and the areas beyond her immediate area (swim in the water). Wyv |
Weeeelllll....
There IS another workaround, if you're up to it (and very determined). You also need the spell "Call of Home" for safety. Go back to Brimloch Roon, but don't enter the town. Have your most agile character (or the one with the greatest athletics skill) jump to the top of the wall. The wall at Brimloch Roon is short enough that this shouldn't be a problem. Okay? Now, head south and hop onto the tree tops. By looking up at a 45 degree angle and walking, you should be able to hug the southern border. Don't worry if your characters take a bit of damage. If the "screaming" effect gets to you, turn down the sound. Watch the map carefully. When you get just past Talrik's cove, start heading north. Keep heading north until you get to the spot on the map where there's a land-locked lake. Drop into this section from the trees. Now swim down into the center of the lake. There's the shrine of Kerah! You can talk to her now, activate the Portal, get the Light Obelisk, and then go back up and find the Leprechaun's Treasure (in a clearing to the east of the lake. You can cast "Call of Home" if you have it to go back to Brimloch Roon now. Allegedly, you can swim down in the portal and flip the switch, which should reactivate the pillar and you can re-enter the Shrine of Anephas this way. It's risky, though...with all the bugs in the game, I wouldn't hazard it. Hope this works as an alternative. -Sazerac |
