I tried to take a picture of this, and well I don't want to try again. But here is the tip. I am not sure if this works at the other two towns, but in Valeia if you stand right in front of the gate, and look up and start jumping, you will land on the top of the gate. Guess what you see on the other side? A wall of trees!! Go check it out, it is hilarious!

Being on top of the gate is also an excellent place from which to pick off monsters which are too difficult to handle on the ground! (that's a carg tip!)

It does work at the other two towns. It's also allows you to "tree-surf"; that is, walk along the tops of the trees. This is the only workaround I've found in Brimloch Roon to be able to finish the "Living Seed" quest from Sabastio before getting the quest to open Anephas' Shrine. Using the "Jump to the wall" and tree-surf method, you can skim the treeline all along the southern border until you get to the Lost Sea, and then make it to the Isle of Sands before you even get to the Shrine of Anephas.
