Just came across the question again, what those artifacts do - so here my "wisdom" on them.

ENCHANTS (Magic shop)

Artifact of Fire (Sun)

-> Protection from Fire on all armor items including jewelry (20% each pop)

-> Flamestrike spell x enchant skill/open slots for weapons (useless I say)

Artifact of Stone

-> Zap spell x .... for weapons

Artifact of Ice (Moon)

-> Protection from Cold for armor (as above)

-> Iceball spell x ... for weapons

Artifact of Pain (Fiend)

-> Protection from magic for armor (as above)

BLESSINGS (Temple)

Artifact of Stone

-> AC for armor items, amount depends on items (+1 each for jewelry, +0.40 each for plates, ....)

Artifact of Pain (Fiend)

-> increases damage for weapons (don't ask me the exact amount - try it out)

Artifact of Spirit

-> Puts Regeneration feature on main armor items (robes, chains, plates, ....)

-> increases to hit by +1 for each blessing for weapons & JEWELRY

Artifact of Vines

-> toughens armor

-> toughens weapons

Now what to enchant if you do not have unlimited gold? Each enchant/blessing of one type gets progressively more expensive.

Protection from Fire/Cold/Magic one/two levels each on the various armor items will get you char quickly to 100% on those - especially if you have opted for the "ward" option from the lamp.

If you have spare cash, one/two or even three +armor would be okay for armor items, but AC it not really that important and comes cheaper for jewelry - to get +2 AC from a plate would be 5 blessing to a total of 31,000 gold, you get the same for 3,000 (two blessing) in a Silver/Jewel Ring or Bronze Cuff (63,000 gives you +6 AC on jewelry).

So I enchant Protections on armor items and perhaps bless a little but not much.

Weapons/Jewelry I carry to the Temple, the most cost effective is 6 damage & 6 hit bless (if you can afford that) for weapons [some need toughen badly, like the Robinsword, else they are always red - then one toughen, 6 damage & 5 hit for me].

Jewelry is the best item to bless - I like 6 +armor and 6 +hit blessings (as long as I can afford it).

Do not forget, if you sold those Silver/Jewel Rings & Bronze Cuffs (because you found Electrum Cuffs) - go and check how many you can buy back.

Hope this makes sense & helps.
