I recently installed TotSC onto my computer, and I've found that Baldur's Gate will only load if the expansion disk is in the cd drive. It always asks for disk six. Is there any way to make it so that I can start the game up with just one of the regular BG disks? It's particularly annoying that I have to take disk 5 out, put in disk 6, start baldur's gate, and then to load my game where I'm in BG (the city) I have to put disk five back in. What's up with that? Why can't i just leave disk five in.

To the best of my knowledge the answer to your question is no.

It's a copy-protect thing: BioWare knew there were bunches of people with BG1 out there, and if you could boot up ToSC with a BG disc, a group of friends could get together and just buy one ToSC disc, passing it around whenever anyone needed to actually GO to the ToSC areas. Hence, they decided to make Disc 6 required every time you start the program.

I used to have a no-cd crack for Bg1, but the site I got it from cleared out its older files, so I cant get it again. Ill have a look tonight, see if I can find a link for you.
More helpfuly, if you do a full installation, you odnt have to switch CDs. |
this doesnt happen to me at all? i only ever use the main bg cd in the drive and thats it, dont use any of the others nor does it ask for them, i did a full install though which i always do, eats the space but saves the hassle, i hate cd swappin
