I found another way to get around the brass dragon, Have your Wizard ready to cast vanish head towards brass dragon, when you've gon as far as you can cast your spell and you will be moved over towards the switch to turn it off. MAY TAKE A FEW TRYS.
I did it before I went to the stout mines, and got the armour.
