There have been so many questions regarding how to get the guilds to work properly under a W2k install that I am making one post regarding this and will attempt to keep this "bumped" back to the top periodically.

The problem is that in Windows 2000, the town .avi files are compressed and won't work properly. To uncompress them, you need to go to the following site:

http://www.geocities.com/virtualdub/index.html

Once you get there, load the file townmsk1.avi from the Townavi directory in your Wizards & Warriors folder into Virtualdub. Save it with the "Save as old-format AVI". You will get back a 32MB file. Rename this file townmsk1.avi (over the old file).

Now restart Wizards & Warriors. You should be able to get inside all the buildings. This also prevents crashing from inside towns.

Congrats Vinnius! I'm glad the problem was solved. Sorry I didn't respond sooner; this is the first chance I've had to check the forum since last night.

This is what I love about this place; sooner or later, someone is going to have the solution one needs.

HAving a few problems with the program.

I get the blank twon screen while running windows 98'. Haven't used any othe OS's though. Anyways I downloaded this Virtualdub prgram and every time I attempt to load one of the Town .avi's into it I get the error message "Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'CRAM'(Microsoft Video 1)"

I'm totally lost now... I just want this game to work =(

Any help Sazerac? I would be forever grateful

Sounds like your windows installation is missing a few files. You could run control panel - add/remove programs - Windows setup and check if video compression options are on. I don't remember exactly how it is called, but you should look for something like video compression and/or Codecs.
