I'm just starting the game, and go in the armory. Everytime I equip a sallet for my lead character, the game crashes. I have a Pentium III 600 MHz computer with 128MB RAM.

Are you running the patch??

What OS are you using???

Hopefully xenotoca will reply soon - he has great advice on this subject. Also follow the link in my signature. I believe there is some information there on some hardware problems that cause problems.

I'm running this game on your basic Windows98 system.
No, I'm not running the patch. I've found that patches are more trouble than they're worth--at least as far as Might & Magic is concerned.

I did not have the specific problem you are having but when I started the game I was using 64MB of memory & the load time was driving me insane so my boyfriend bought me a stick of 128 that turned out to be baaaaad! Ended up trashing more than the game on my system!
I replaced that with a new good stick of 128 and have not had one lock-up or ine crash ever since. ( I am using the first patch, I saw today that a new one has been released but as of yet have not downloaded it for reasons too long to sit here & explain, lol)
ANYWHO, if you can have your memory tested, do so & see if it may be your problem. Esp if problems in the game persist or get worse.
I got lucky enough to have someone give me mine (I know it costs a chunk) but if it will save your system in the long run, it is worth your while to know it is working as it should.

P.S. M&M8 crashed on me when I checked stats on Simon Templar after I equipped him with better boots, lol...I had saved the game with them on him & had to go way back to fix my game. : ( (Beat it though!)

ARGH! I just get started out of town, start getting the message, when it crashes AGAIN! Now I have to start over and get everything in town again...

Say what you will about the Might & Magic engine, at least it was stable.
