I received an answer from Thorny to my query and I'd like to thank this person. I'm not sure where my original query is. Perhaps it was one of the 'lost threads.' Anyway, my dilemna has been solved and I'm feeling very "duh"!! LOL Turned out to be a very elementary mistake on my part --

I’d forgot that the ninja prefers solitude –
The exclusion of others fits her stealthy mood.
My party of six was too wide for the stairs,
And the noises they made caused my ninja’s hairs
On her neck stand up straight and bristle with ire.
She returned all alone and thus could aspire
The troublesome stairs without all that clatter.
She’s a ninja and last and that’s all to this matter!
