I have all three shards and have to get back to erathsmador but the lift is all the way up. How do you get back up there to see him.

There ought to be a pull rope or some such thing to signal the lift to come back down. Check around!

Yes, there is a pull rope on the left side of the room... after you pull it, you have to WAIT a bit before the lift comes down to where you are~ so, give it time and only pull it once, or it will just go up and down and never reach your level!

When you pull the rope you must stand right next to the rope,don't move.

no, it's not necessery to stand nearby (it's dangerous for your head...) Buttons and this rope can be used in tall distance too.
