I have found the five evil elements (5 including the evil mask) but when I place the elements on the evil claws nothing happens.. What am I supposed to do?

Place the mask in the middle of the five elements - THEN something should happen!

When you say 5 including the mask, I would interpret this as a total of 4 elements plus the masque of evil. If that is correct, you are short one esential element. You need to fill up all 5 claws, and then the masque goes in the centre.
