Hey
I complete the crypt...spoke to scabban etc...
went to join the wizard guild and am told that my quest is to talk to scabban. went back to the crypt found him, asked him the stuff all over again. went back to the guild but no luck. went back asked scabban again, killed him and back to the guild but no credit. am i missing something?

Well killing Scabban should have done it.
Do you wait for the NPCs to finish their blathering on and on and on, or are they telling you that you haven't completed the quest yet??

Well it's not like you can go back and kill him again!!

This isn't so far into the game that you might consider resetting the quests and starting again?? Gads, sort of hate to advise doing that if it all happens to you again!

Anyone else have a suggestion???

figured it out....you have to enter that room that he is originally in for the credit to register

The same sort of thing happened to me as well. After killing Scabban, I returned to the guild looking for the guildmaster to shower me with precious gifts as a reward. Didn't happen. After I finished the Crypt however, I returned to the magic shop once again and was given credit for completing the quest.

On a side note, I have not been able to claim my reward from the Mayor of Valeia for delivering his message to Ishad N'Ha's town hall. He keeps asking me if there's a problem. Um, yeah there's a problem...I'm not getting my reward. I decided to give up on that one.

Just curious.. did anyone else find that Scabban jumped into the pit after you started attacking him? For me, as soon as I began to give him a little flamedrop lovin' , he lept into the pit in the room. Just wondering if that was an aberration, or if that's a thing he likes to do...

In my game, he headed for the pit as soon as I stopped talking to him. I hadn't even attacked him yet. Not the smartest strategy. It was pretty easy to pick him off from above.

It was probably one of those "it seemed like a good idea at the time" ideas for ol' Scabban.. to jump in there before pulling the lever so he could swim to safety I wanted to help the guy, but he seemed a bit carried away with his whole "let the dead kill and eat everyone" thing.
