I keep getting frequent crashes particularly when quicksaving the game, I only have the most recent patch for IWD2 installed and have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, any help/comments appreciated.
|
Seems to me it could be a graphics issue. How are you set for video card, DirectX, etc?
|
The problem would not appear to be that because the game is running on the same system as before and I have played it a few times.
|
What kind of crashes? Back to desktop? Any error messages? DOes it happen in one particular area?
|
It goes back to desktop stating "save game failed do you want to quit, with a yes no option. Hitting the no option takes me back to my game, usually only for it to crash again, be it automatically or within a few minutes

I had exactly same problem in BG1. Sorry can't remeber what fixed it... Hold on while I do some search for you
EDIT: If I recall correctly, it happened only when quicksaving with me... Hold on, I found some fixes. 5 mins... [ 06-23-2007, 07:28 PM: Message edited by: ZFR ] |
Here are some solutions. Sorry, it's not much but hopefully one will work.
They are actually from BGI/II, but it's the exact same message you're getting. http://forums.bioware.com/viewtopic....65926&forum=11 http://forums.bioware.com/viewtopic....66345&forum=10 http://forums.bioware.com/viewtopic....58740&forum=10 If not, try doing a search to the bioware forums. Maybe you'll find something there. |
I tried the whole moving saved games and reinstalling and (touch wood) it appears to be working as far as quick saving the game , now getting "assertion error", cannot remember exact wording, will let you know tho. Thanx Zafer

I have just finished off the banite in kuldahar and on coming out of the cave, the game crashes, goes back to desktop with the message;assertion failed at CStore.cpp at line number 200, I have tried to reload on 6 occasions with the same result,as soon as I get outside the cave the game crashes.

The first thing to do in an assertion error is to open your IWD2 directory and delete the contents of the "cache" subfolder.
If that doesn't work then... I believe CStore.cpp is related to container items. So drop behind all your bags of holding, scroll cases, gem bags... etc, and see if you still get the error message. If not, find out which container is the culprit and see if you can live without it. Good luck. (As for the quicksave error, if it happens again, save on a new file, then delete the quicksave. Restart IWD2, load your game and use quicksave as normal). [ 06-25-2007, 03:28 AM: Message edited by: ZFR ] |
