Chain Lightning is bugged, tops at 3 strikes no matter your level(should be 1 creature + 1/level or 1/half your level depending on edition).
I will always, always and always take Eagle's Splendor for Sorcerer. Especially with the bug that counts some animations as rests. Trigger a splendor and see the anim, suddenly you have 9 Delayed Blast Fireballs.

Personally, you can't go wrong with an AoE and direct damage attack spells, then take enchantmets (offensive or defensive).
