I assume it means a group face-to-face with a live DM.

By the way, Snark the Strange was my first RP character, an evil Tunnels and Trolls mage. He tried to filch the contents of the cashbox from two little kids with a dragonade stand. When they noticed, and started yelling for Mommy, he blasted one with a "Take That You Fiend". It bounced off the little golden dragon and he fried himself.

That's a great little story. I had a couple of encounters with an old man and seven gold song birds. Of course we found out afterward that it was Bahamut and his escort of anchient gold dragons. Fun stuff! PnP means pen and paper (tabletop AD+D).
