Ok... I play the game. Then I take a year long vacation and come back. I've forgotten everything that I have completed and agreed to complete. So I export my character and import him into a new game.Turns out he was maxed on his XP and had some of the better to best weapons. I used a XP Cap remover so that I can still achieve Stars in my weapons.
I am ready to export my guy again and move him to BG2. Does this make me a cheater? Will the extra stars be there in BG2 when It brings my XP down to the previous Cap? Should I play the BG1 & TotSC from the begining with a from scratch character? Help me out. |
I think a better question is do YOU think that it is cheating? After all if you go and play BG2 and walk through it and feel unfufilled or guilty is it worth it? Or on the other hand if you go to BG2 and have a ball is it cheating? Who knows? The answer to this question lies within yourself young Jedi not within the lines of this forum.

Let me put it this way.
My pals and I are bragging about our 'Geekism', I get trumped by "I can code directly in binary 1s & 0s", can I legitimatly pull out, "Well I beat the entire Baldur's Gate Series with out cheating" and regain my 'Geekdom'? ~Deathead (Thinking about it... just asking this question should put me in a decent lead for being a Geek wouldn't it? ) |
Bottom line, are you having fun? If you're feeling a little let down after the fact, try it another way. Who cares what anyone else thinks? Just remember the bottom line.

Good point... thank you

WOOHOO FOR THE BOTTOM LINE!!! BOO TO GGEKDOM!!!

Oh yea you are a cheater but what's the big deal . As long as you are having fun then it doesn't matter. It is your game and you can always start a new game and keep it clean. Now off you go and cheat some more :D .

BTW, Deathead, your weapon proficiencies do NOT transfer over to BG2. You will have to reassign the stars in the weapons you want.
Not necessarily a bad thing. It will give you a chance to "refine" your character a little more. Also, BG2 is MUCH MORE like PnP, in that you have to choose a SPECIFIC weapon (such as long sword, katana, bastard sword, etc) rather than being able to specialize in an entire category (Great Swords). |
Is it thought to be cheating to look up critters in the Monster Manual? Or is it SOP? Or is it just a matter of playing style?

hm, i wonder, i started a game and played 'bout 1day and 7h (in bg time, that is) and then the whole thing crashed. So i went and bought a real copy of the game ('bout time) and imported a guy with some stuff i had in the game that crashed. It was lika a 1+ wand and some losuy ordinary armour, lika studded leather. I didnt want to go trough the "kill-alot-of-wortless-enemies-to-be able-to-buy-a-shitty-35goldpeice-armour-for-imoen". Now U made me feel lika a cheater, is it "unclean" to do what i did?
and is it "unclean" to load a previous save if your hitpoints go up with the _minimum_ or something equal, when u level up? |
