What is a good person to solo through the game? I cant find a good person to cover everything. I am contemplating an aasimir paladin/sorcerer, but that leaves few stats for fighting and no theif.

possible stats:
STR 18
DEX 12
CON 16
INT 4
WIS 8
CHA 20

Ideas? This guy doesn't look like he'll last very long.

Well if he uses light armor, concentrates more on sorcery(2:1) than paladinhood it just might work. Thief stuff isn't that important anyways. Oh, and some experimenting in the buff/transmutation should work out perfectly(imagine Stoneskin, Trollish Fortitude and Tenser's Transformation with maybe Shield, Mage Armor and Fireshield). Try figuring out the best ratio, and maybe even a 3rd multiclass, because that will paradoxically increase your speed of leveling, rather than d4ecrease it.

I'm scared about the low wisdom. This guy will be chewed by opposing priests and will be a smidgen weak with the paladin spells. What can I cut from the other stats? I think that the 20 cha is mandatory... maybe 16 STR, as this guy will be using the cera sumat and doesn't need a whopping STR bonus for a flaming greataxe.

Bozos of Bones 11-12-2004 08:49 AM

Well there's this one(two actually) Every God Ring that will give +5 to Wisdom to rangers and paladins(out of the ones that can have a use of it). Divine Grace(CHA bonus to saves) will save his saving throws if you're worried about that, and the sorcerer spells are all you'll need anyway. If you're planning on going HoF the maximum you should get on your paladin levels is 10 for the feats and the like, and that's level 3 spells, so 13 wisdom(with the ring) is enough. STR bonus is usefull to any melee character, so there's not much point in decreasing it. If you think you've got not enough ability points, and I see by the stats you're not adverse to powergaming, pick Drow for a race, as they get some significant benefits against spellcasters, especially when you get the avenger.

I considered Drow, as I am only taking 16 CON anyway, but I am annoyed at the 20% less experience added to a +2 ECL. Well, I guess Ill get enough experience anyway due to soloing.

WTF?? That's not true. What it really means is that your Drow will start out w/ more xp than a human (ECL +0) character and after the first level, s/he needs more xp to get to the next level than a human. Here's the xp table:

Character Level ECL=Level (normal) ECL=Level+1 (Aasimar, Tiefling) ECL=Level+2 (Drow, Duergar) ECL=Level+3 (Svirfneblin)
1 0 0 0 0
2 1,000 3,000 6,000 10,000
3 3,000 6,000 10,000 15,000
4 6,000 10,000 15,000 21,000
5 10,000 15,000 21,000 28,000
6 15,000 21,000 28,000 36,000
7 21,000 28,000 36,000 45,000
8 28,000 36,000 45,000 55,000
9 36,000 45,000 55,000 66,000
10 45,000 55,000 66,000 78,000
11 55,000 66,000 78,000 91,000
12 66,000 78,000 91,000 105,000
13 78,000 91,000 105,000 120,000
14 91,000 105,00 120,000 136,000
15 105,000 120,000 136,000 153,000
16 120,000 136,000 153,000 171,000
17 136,000 153,000 171,000 190,000
18 153,000 171,000 190,000 210,000
19 171,000 190,000 210,000 231,000
20 190,000 210,000 231,000 253,000
21 210,000 231,000 253,000 276,000
22 231,000 253,000 276,000 300,000
23 253,000 276,000 300,000 325,000
24 276,000 300,000 325,000 351,000
25 300,000 325,000 351,000 378,000
26 325,000 351,000 378,000 406,000
27 351,000 378,000 406,000 435,000
28 378,000 406,000 435,000 465,000
29 406,000 435,000 465,000 496,000
30 435,000 465,000 496,000 528,000

So if you create a Human and a Drow, the Drow will start with 5,000 xp points and a human starts out with 0. When they both gain 1,000 xp, they will level up to 2nd level. To get to level 3, the Human only needs 2,000, but the Drow needs 4,000. The drow don't get 20% penalty unless their multiclasses are not w/ 1 level except for the favored class.

I am currently running a solo Monk, got the idea from another board. Here is he's build:

Vassago
Male Deep Gnome Lawfully Good Monk of the Old Order
STR 16 DEX 20 CON 18 INT 3 WIS 16 CHA 1
Weapons: Axe (Slashing), Fists(Bludgeoning), Crossbow (Missle-Piercing)

Marty4 11-22-2004 04:18 PM

I knew that. The multiclasses AREN'T whithin 1 level of each other, and sorceror and paladin aren't favored drow classes.
