in Icewind Dale 2 config, I've got all sliders turned all the way up which is only recommanded for PC's running processors 1.0 ghz or better. resolution is set to 800x600.

my pc specs are the following:

AMD Athlon XP 2800+ (~2.08ghz)
1 GB Ram
nvidia 6800gt video card w/ 256MB

clearly this computer is more than capable of running IWD2, BUT...!
when there are 3 or more bad guys on the screen with spell effects going on the game is very sluggish. actually, the game slows down more when there are spell effects occuring on the screen than when there are just bad guys. this seems ridiculous that the game slows down like this when clearly my is more than capable.

durning the startup sequence of IWD2, i noticed that the nvidia logo pops up so I am guessing that nvidia based video cards are doing some sort of acceleration in the game but what parts?

anyhow, does anyone have and tips, advice, or suggestions? thank you.

Well, the only slow.down I know of to be is below the Horde Fortress, because just every game slows down there.

Check the sticky thread at the top of this board. Under IWD2 there is a section called *Miscellaneous fixes/tweaks*. Under that is a mod called *slowdown fix*, that may help you. The link takes you to Sorcerer's Place, which has been rebuilt from the ground up, so you will have to navigate to the mod yourself,,,in other words, the link is partially broken..but will get you to the new homepage.
