Spoilers ahoy

.

.

.

.

Ive just got to the underdark entrance/ black raven monastry area and killed a pair of white dragons for only 412xp each! WTF  thats only just over 135 xp per character.... FOR SLAYING 2 DRAGONS!! what a rip off :(

Is there a reason for this?

What level are your characters? the higher the level the lower experience you'll get.

edit : Also, the more characters you have the lesser each character will get their share of experience. so it's better to run solo or less party members.

If you think that's a rip off by the end killing most enemies gains no experience at all.

I am aware of the sliding scale of XP. My characters are all level 11. The ironic thing is in the next battle with in the durgar slavemaster area, I killed a spectre worth the same 412 points and it did not lay a finger on me! What i'm trying to say is the Dragons used to be one of 'THE' most feared creature in D&D. I felt really ripped off :( At least make the battle hard, as it was the Wyrms with the dragons caused more problems.

the White Dragons aren't as hard as another variety you can fight later in the game...a few good fire spells and they're kaput...the other gives you a bit more experience, IIRC.

Aside from that, the dragons are not hostile unless you disturb their egg. You can get the item you want from the nest without touching the egg.

I think you may be thinking of the white wyrms outside the monestry gates. I may have misled you by mentioning the monestry, sorry, It is my first walkthrough the game and I was not sure where I was.

Ah, you meant the pair of dragons at the entry cave, one inside and one outside. Yeah, from your post it sounded like the ones nesting by the monastery.

Anyway, I was not all that pleased myself with the sliding exp scale. I think it works better in real gaming rather than the computer kind.

I think Weimar's mod has a setting that will give you something for any encounter (though only a small something) in case you reach the point where no exp is given for combats.

I hate that thing! I mean, the "next level experience needed" is designed precisely to do that, why do it again. I mean slaying a goblin to a level 1 character is worthful, but a level 20 char will just spit on him, the 40-something xp are nothing to him anyway. So why did they incorporate this NONFUNCTIONAL(try playing in solo mode with a race without level adjustment) system? I'm for a fixed xp/slain creature reward, the level requirements take care of the rest.

Though the value of the xp is annoying, what was worse is the devaluation of actually killing a pair of dragons. Should they not be harder to kill? It should strike terror into the party, be technically hard for any gamer to slay them. Not just a few seconds delay in your quest.

I'm not that good a player

Oh well, I'll stop moaning now :D
