i was looking at the cleric's domains and i find that the painbearer has a special ability that can boost 6 constitution.so i think, can i cast that spell on my character who just gain a level?so that he receives +6 con bonus and when i level him up,he will receive more hit points?has anyone tried that before?does it work?

Doesn't work. As with feats (see your other thread) the game checks basic scores only and ignores bonuses when determining what a character gains and doesn't gain at level-up. So a (temporary) bonus will not give you extra hit points or skill points, nor will it allow you to choose a feat which you normally couldn't get.

you made same mistake i made when playing BG1.... the extra HP you get from high CON are not added up only when you level up, but always.... this means that if you temporarily improve your CON when leveling up, you get extra HP, but soon as your Con drops back to normal the extra HP disappears... you can get extra HP anytime by increasing your COn
EDIT: Jaran, you arecorrect about feats prequisites, but you do get extra HP from high con when levelling up, only those HP are temporary and last only as long as the extra CON lasts [ 05-30-2003, 06:46 AM: Message edited by: ZFR ] |
i see,so this skill is pretty crappy right?what is the use of this skill?

More HP and better fortitude saves, but only temporarily. What else would you expect from a CON boost?

actually, quite useful on some occasions
