Is it just me or it this happening to others...You're playing along and all of a sudden the game crashes and you have to hope and pray you remembered to save so you don't have to do stuff all over again. Is this a WINXP bug? or can I mess around with some configs and straighten this out mysepf?

I am not having that problem, and I have XP Home. Are you taxing your system resources too heavily? What are your PC specs, so we can see where there might be some trouble. Other ideas would be to make sure other Windows items are not running,,,like the automatic update or other software applications that have their own ability to communicate via the internet with or without your say-so.

The only crashes I have encountered are due to a fixable bug that causes you to crash back to desktop when you right click on an item in your inventory. It's related to your graphics settings (IIRC correctly, you simply need to change from 32 bit to 16 bit and the solution is posted on the interplay forums). It's not xp related in any fashion.

Larry,
Here's my specs:
XP Pro Serv. Pack 1
AMD Athlon XP 1800+
1.53 GHz
256 MB RAM
NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64
20G harddrive

Not sure how I can have stuff connect to the internet if the line's not plugged in all the time (lightening strike..long story). Should I shut off my virus scan if I'm not online?? I heard that takes up tons of resources. Thanks in advance for everyones time and patience.

I would definitely shut off the Virus scan. Ideally, you should be running IWD2 with virtually everything else turned off.

I'm running Icewind Dale II on a pentium II 333, with 320 megs of ram and a Voodoo 3 3000 16 megs video card.

I play the game with Norton Antivirus, Msn messenger, Icq and Zone Alarm open and I never had a crash, so I doubt your crash have anything to do with your computer performances.

That's even worse than my computer.
(PIII 600, 20GB, 128 MB ram and a Geforce 64 Card)

Oh well, no probs as long as IWD2 runs fine...That's what I like about BG and IWD series, they don't need a mega - fast computers to run, and they don't need STUNNING graphics to be a fun, interesting and full of depth. Honorary mention goes to sound and music.
