I started playing IWD2 this week and think it's great, fun to see the 3rd edition rules (they actually make sense to me... ), lovely interface and the graphics are just awesome... Anyway, my first party is just a mismatch of diffrent stereotypical characthers that I though would be cool to play to see how the game works, tiefling Rogue (Ni-Ina), Drow Ranger (no not Drizzt posibly a distant relative... ) and Aasimar Paladin (Razariel... I know... I was in a hurry and nedded a name... ), but the one I like the best is a dumb ugly dwarf named Funin, he is a fighter and has 18str, 16 Con, 18 dex and the rest somewere in the range that make him the equivelint of a dung beetle...
Anyway, the really fun part is, that my cleric and my wizard like him a lot and have found a great way to basicly kill anything goblinoid in a very fast and a vvvvery bloody way... before any battle the wizard casts Cats Grace on him, giving him about +12 to hit (he is already in level 5) and the cleric casts Bulls strenght on him... guaranteeing any goblin unlucky enough to be in his way recieves no less than 19 damage from his waraxe... I know this is called powerplaying but hey, it's fun... |
Sounds great! I also have in my party, a sturdy dwarf. He gets the pick of the litter when it comes to taking out groups of nasties...as well as first pick of any good gear we come across. He does not mind at all when I throw him into a pack of ravaging beasts, and only requests that I do not tell the elf.
His name is Dwarf. I gave him the no-speaking grunt voice set. |
Cat's Grace will only help your dwarf's attack bonus for:
a) ranged combat b) using small blades and has the Weapon Finesse feat Without the Weapon Finesse feat, all melee attack bonuses are based on STR. Bull's Strength or Champion's Strength is much more valuable for your axe-wielding dwarf. ;) In fact, there's not much value in having a dwarven fighter or barbarian with an 18 DEX. You're better off maxing out his STR and CON. You'll more bang for your powergaming buck that way. |

My Half-Orc Ranger 1/Barbarian 4 is a real nasty one too.. I hide him in shadown all buffed up and tell him to go behind something.. by the time they can turn around and see what is behind them, he totally decapitates them
His stats are: STR 20 DEX 18 CON 19 INT 7 WIS 10 CHA 1 I beleive those are the right stats.. |
