Ok so I just finished the game for the first time on Normal mode and I want to start now on HOF mode however when I went to turn it on on the configure screen it said that once I turn it on all games saved from then on will be saved in HOF mode, since my brother is playing the game for the first time and still has a while to go before he finishes it if I turn on HOF mode will his game switch over to HOF mode aswell?

HOF mode applies only to *new* games started after you turn it on. Older saves are not affected by this, so your brother's game should be as usual. If he starts a new game, however, it will be HOF, so you better warn him ;)

Start your HoF game. Save it. Then exit the IWD2, open the config program and reset the HoF setting back to normal.

Your game will play in HoF mode.
Your brother game will play in Normal mode.
Any new game will start in Normal mode.
