I decided to try something different this time around so I sent my Wizard into the chambers.

I fired off every fireball, cone of cold, snowball swarm, Meteor storm, virtrolic sphere, cloudkill and prismatic spray. THE MONKS EVADE EVERYTHING in HOF mode. Then I tried destruction, finger of death and soul eater. and power word kill/stun. no effect. I had to summons monsters and use tensers transformation to kill them.

Do any area effect spells work on these monks?
Maybe Horrid Wilting?

That's only to be expected. Monsters in HOF mode are much higher level than in normal. The basic gobbie is a 7th level critter (going by the experience a 1st level party would get for one). So of course the monks are going to be very tough in that test. Their saving bonuses are probably enormous, not mention they likely have spell resistance as well. So few spells are likely to affect them, though something of 9th level might get through. But don't count on it.
