Eh ? I leveled up for the first time and some of the skills that were available to me when i created teh character are now greyed out and not available (i havent multiclassed) ...
Whats the use in that ? If i knew they werent going to be consistently available then i wouldn't have invested in them in teh first place. ???? cheers R |
Skills as in alchemy etc?
I dunno why they are greyed out... they shouldn't be... unless you have already maxed out for that level... No idea |
If they are cross-class skills, the max # you can have is 1/2 of what a class skill could be, not rounded up. Class skills can be at most your level +3.

where these skills cross-class skills (cost 2 pts)? if so, you can't raise them as high as class skills (1 pt).
For class skills, the formula is lvl+3. so max @ 2nd lvl is 5. For cross-class skills, the formula is (lvl+3)/2. so max @ 2nd lvl is same as lvl 1 which is 2. cross-class skills will advance every other level if you keep them maxed. |
Yeah, any skill that costs two points can only be raised every other level if you've already maxed them. For fighters, that means anything outside of intimidate.
And in AD&D, fractions are always dropped. So Night Stalker is entirely correct; that's the formula in use. However, if you multiclass, that changes; they calculate on the total character level. My fighters with a couple Rogue levels could bring up rogue skills by one every level gain, though they cost 2 points.
Nightowl2
|
