Is it my imagination, or did the wizard class become more difficult?
I have a wizard conjurer. In 2nd edition D&D, his opposite school was divination, whatever you know. Now in 3rd edition D&D his opposite school is evocation!!! WTH?!?! I cant cast magic missiles anymore. Well, I go searching for another class that suits me better. Now more classes have more than one opposite school, and every class has an opposite school that is rather too valueable to give up. I'm actually finding myself forced to choose a regular wizard. This sux. Any comments anyone? |
Well after the original restrictions you mention I gave up on specialist wizards. In BG2 I chose some kinda specialist mage and like you, coiuld not cast magic missle due to it being in an opposing school - how crap. So anyways after that I stick to regular mages, way more simpler and less stressing. :D

Yeah, with the 3rd ed rules, you're much better off not taking any specialty school. There's really no big bonus, aside from the extra spell. Not worth giving up so much for that.
