If you plan to use the druid as a pure spell caster, you might want to substite him/her with a sorcerer because sorcerer (with the correct spell combinations) are much better than druid. Anyway, just my 2 cents.

I have just started playing IWD2 and just wanted to know what people thought bout my party. I have a full party that consists of:
Half-Orc Fighter 20-16-16-8-12-2 Human Fighter 18-17-18-8-12-3 Shield Dwarf Fighter 18-18-18-8-14-2 Strongheart Halfing Rogue 12-20-12-14-14-4 Moon Elf Necromancer 10-14-14-18-12-8 Human Druid 10-12-12-10-18-14 I was thinking of maybe giving my roque a few classes of ranger latter on is this possbile??? What do u think of the Necromancer wizard??? Any other overall comments would help me thanks |
Wow! It seems that I am back to the iwd1, Six fighters in my group wielding swords and polearms towards the foes.
A druid is a very interesting character in iwd2, and she/he can do something a sorceror cannot do---heal. Of course, your rogue can get some ranger levels after you get 10 or more levels as a rogue. Necromancer is also my favorite specialized wizard. Almost all good spells are accessible to you. You may let one of your fighter get some cleric levels. |
I different type of chunky wizard would be diviner and 1 level of sorcerer. All spells would then be available and useable to that character. It's like having a specialist with no opposition school.
|
Are you sure about that, Khaz? A wiz/sorc combination has different spellbooks, one for each class. So even if the sorc half knows magic missile, it isn't available in the wiz spellbook until you write it in.
I only looked at that briefly, however; didn't develop the character through both classes. So have you tried this and been able to get all spells?
Nightowl2
|
I actually think a Wizard/Sorc would be a good idea considering that they share feats and such, and you get pretty much double the spells and more versatility. Its one of the things I'm dying to try out, but my Wizard is stuck with a miserable 8 Charisma. More magic missles, more variety, less need to tailor your spell selection before every crucial fight, choosing spells to complement both classes, oooh the possibilities.

Maybe you need to add a cleric because druids have more offensive spells than defensive spells. Keep your rogue a rogue until maybe level 15 bcoz rogues gain powerful stats at level higher than 10. Also keep giving your rogues points in alchemy so they can gain the Envenom Weapon feat. Get a Paladin or better a Cleric for the Turn Undead skill. Give the poor Sorcerer some Charisma....

The Envenom Weapon feat is really a weak feat in my opinion...
I've tried that before, but I just found it was a waste to put 16 skill points on alchemy. Anyway, I was happy to see how this skill worked... |
Just a question about the wizard/sorcerer: how can that combination be possible, I'm sorry, but that just kills my roleplaying adventure. There is a distinct difference between a wiz and a sorc. Dont get me wrong, I really like the 3rd edition rules, but I just cant seem to comprehend these sort of possibilities. Maybe someone can point me into the right direction about the background of the 3rd edition rules?

Well, wizards gain their spells by study. There is nothing to prevent another class from taking up the study of magic (except the DM's ruling, of course). So a sorcerer with the wild talent for magic could decide to become even more involved with a little book learning.
From a purely role-playing standpoint, it certainly is weird, and any player who wanted that combo would have to give me some very good reasons for it. But this is a computer game, and real role-playing doesn't apply.
Nightowl2
|
