I razed the duegar village to the ground, heh. But when I scrolled back through the battle, I noticed we got xp for about 2 of the duegars, and for 1 fire beetle, out of I dunno how many but a damn lot more than that, plus a bunch of orc slave people as well! We killed them all with our weapons and a few magic missiles and fireballs. I'm sure it's not where you kill easy people and don't get xp for them; we'd previously killed about 20 yeti in a row and consistently got xp for them. A bug?

you don't get EX points for killing anything that has low hit points or is week in comparison to you and your team.

Yes I know that but I got xp for a few of them, for instance I didn't get xp for the first duegar warrior I killed but for one a bit later on. And they had lots of hitpoints.

It's the new way they do experience. Every monster type has a challenge rating instead of a fixed number of xp points. How much (if anything) you get depends on the CR vs your average party level.

Since you got very little for taking out the duergar, tough though they may seem, the game considers your team to be far superior to the enemy. Likely you only got points for the leader and a couple of others.

You'll probably see more of that as you continue through the game. So it's vital to do as many quests as possible. That's how you receive the most points.

I had the same problem but resolved it when I would fight completely one on one fights.....that way the party/enemy xp ratio is null and void

Now that's interesting. How did you manage "one on one" fights? I'm also wondering how that slipped in, since party level is usually very close to the individual character levels.
