I saw in one thread someone talking about getting the option to raise ability stats on level-up. Is that correct? Do stats increase with experience? Can anyone point me to a reference for that will explain the mechanics for this?

I think you get 1 point every 4 lvls.

I think it is every 5 levels.

Every four levels (4th, 8th, 12th, etc.), you can put one point in the stat of your choice. Usually, that will be the primary stat for the class, but it isn't required. You can add it to any of the stats. This rule can in with 3rd edition and is part of the official rules set.
