I found this ring that casts mage armor once a day. I can't figure out how to use it. It won't go into a quick slot. I can wear it but not use it. If I select that character, the manual says on P 13 I am supposed to see a "Use Item" icon (it says there are 3 item buttons, F9-F11). But I don't have a use item button for that character, and pressing F9-F11 doesn't help.

How do you use such an item?

PS - it does this whether it's being worn or not.

Right click on one of the empty options down at the bottom of the screen, it's usually a spell option for me (on the bar where you click to cast a spell, or hide for those who know can). This brings up a list of new short cuts you can place in that empty spot. Choose the one that looks like a big bag, that's the use item icon. You should do this for all your peeps.

edit.. and you have to be wearing an item to use it's spell casting abilities.
