Well, I've now tried 16 times to kill the Guardian outside the temple. No luck! He always ends up "hurt" but all my folks are "dead"! Any tips from those of you that have wasted him? Thanks.

First of all, you need +3 or better weapons to hurt him. This is what I did to kill him:

I had my sorcerer cast stoneskin on all my characters, that helped a lot. Emotion: Hope, protection from evil, and other protections spells helped a lot too.

If you like cheesy tactics, consider casting a tons of Skull trap and delayed blast fireball on the spot where he spawn.

I don't like to summon creatures, but they could be usefull too.

I was going to ask the same question about that damn dragon,I've tried everything and can bearly hurt him at all!For some reason my sorc/wiz has squat for spells(int19) and my cleric isn't much better. So spell wise I'm hurtin. And even with +4 weapons I can hardly put a dent in this guy, hate to not finish him off before I move on so any more tips here would sure be appreciated..Thanks

Well, if you don't mind a little cheese, have the dragon target one of your boys and them dump a resilient sphere on him/her. The Dragon will continue to attack the protected fighter, ignoring the other people beating on him. And if you have mordenkainen's sword for your mage, use that.

Use the spell lower resistances so you can hurt him with magic. I haven't checked if it is stackable with itself, but iirc it was in BG2.

I had a tough time with him too until I made use of heal. It's what a healing spell should be, quick to cast, full restore. I had my cleric and druid memorize as many heals as they could. I used my druids best summon at the time and summon undead from my wizard. grouped them together, case circle of protection against evil, then summoned an elemental, I think it was an air elemental but I'm not sure if that really matters. Them buffed the part best I could, strenght of one, improved haste, holy power, barkskin, whater buffs I had, especially area effect that work on the summons too. I had a necromancer so enchantments weren't an option but emotion hope would of been nice too. I then put all my fighters close to my paladin to get the aura of courage and the summons on the other side to that when he appears I would have him surrounded. My wizard stayed back just in range of spells and used lower resist and then magic missle as much as possible. Ususally the summoned bears would panic but that just seemed to confuse the dragon and he couldn't seem to make up his mind over wich person to hit. my druid stayed behind the main group with the palidn and poked him with spear, and cast heal when I needed it. Once I started using heal he didn't seem so tough anymore.

i kill the dragon will several magic only

1:Magic Circle Against Evil
2:Planar Ally: Fire Elemental ,Planar Ally: Earth Elemental
3:one man stand in front of the dragon with Otiluke's Resilient Sphere to take all the physical damage from the dragon
4:the rest of party walk as far as possible away from the battle field
5:wirzard use Mordenkainen's Force Missiles or Mordenkainen's Sword to attack the dragon depend on your level

I must say that this was the hardest fight in the game so far. I spent 45-6 hours to finally kill that dragon.
First have your other charaters wait in the spot where thosr hunters are. You won't need them. I had a trowing axe +5 that returned to wielder. I put my character with the trowing axe to wait on the entrance portal in the northeastern part of the map. Cast mirror image with my sorc. and went to activate the switch to release the dragon. I run with my sorcerer at the portal. The dragon followed me. If your characters are on those stairs the dragon can't hit you. Only that Breath of Acid can do you damage so protection from acid on this two characters will help. As my fighter keept throwing its axe at the dragon I cast Lance of Disruption with mu sorc. It makes a lot of damage (at least 20 points). I cast this spell 6 times and with the damage made by the throwing axe and Magic Missile (after I finished Lance of Disruption) I managed to bring him at Badly Wounded. Then the battle became very difficult because i didn't have another spellcaster in my party and the sorc. finished all his useful spells. Then i cast a lot of summons (shadows) in order to keep his attention from my party members. Then I attacked him with all my party and i finally beat him without using a single heal spell (only a lot of healing potions).

Ok i've actually had no problems with him at all. What i did was cast stoneskin and
strength of avatar(or some such lvl 4-5 clr spell gives a lot of str to char) at my fighter
and dire bear druid then i cast improved invis at everyone. When he spawned i also cast
mass haste and mordenk. sword. Killed him 3 times like this real quick (didn't make it to
portal in time at first).
