a pure rogue will be so weak? should I supply him with fighter or ranger levels? which combo works fine? what about pure bard? should I multiclass my fighters?

I never use pure-rogues in outdoor campaigns. I'd multi-class your rogue.

Your bard, on the other hand, keep pure. You need to stay focused with bards because your rogue skills won't be as focused as a pure rogue. Plus, you'll be a good arcane caster and party enhancer and missile weapon user...

i found that my favorite rogue multi-class is a Monk/Rogue. if you choose the correct monk, you will not be penalized and can still go back to being a monk.

plus, both rogue and monk use wisdom for a/c so that i can bump that up, yet not worry about getting penalties for fighting in the nude. i just LOVE my monk/rogue combo. :D she makes me very happy. :D
