Okay, I've been playing with my solo paladin and I just beat Joril for his badge. However, with insane difficulty I've been getting insane xp, and am almost at level 29. I fully expect to be maxed by the 3rd badge.
My dilemma: It is somewhat dissapointing to face the remainder of the game without leveling, and I am intending on taking on HoW (for my first time). I am thinking of importing in a new character at level 1. Would this ruin the experience, or do you think I should go for it? What class should my squire be? I was thinking mage, since I already have tanking and healing down. Possibly a cleric/mage, since I need to try one of those someday. Thoughts? |
Hi Marty, you appear to have the opposite problem to me.
I have one empty slot that could easily be filled by a Level 29 Paladin to help me through the end game. While you have 5 empty slots that could use some Level 1 Gnomes who are a bit the worse for wear. How about a swop! Ps - I love Cleric/Mage, but a Bard might also make a good companion, from a role playing point of view your Paladin could get married. |
I was considering both a bard and 5 level one gnomes (Cant help but be inspired by you adventures ;) ), but I want to expand a solo game into a duo game. The Bard's usefulness would be somewhat limited in a duo party IMHO, and a paladin can always be married to a cleric/mage.
Last night I went ahead and made a Cleric/Mage, since I got impatient and got enough xp to level to 32 just by talking to Joril. I think a cleric/mage will work nicely, since she will have the ability to be almost as heavily armored. BTW, I just reached level 6 spells, and I have one thing to say: Forget heal, entropy shield ROCKS! I can go into battle naked and still have negative armor class! |
Yeah Entropy shield is good, but IMO not a patch on Stone Skin. Speaking of Armour class, whats the best ppl have ever had (permanent, no spells)?
My personal best is AC -12, although I think I could probably do better if I diddnt share the items. And does anybody know the best AC possible? I mean, excluding buffers and other spells. I guess we'll have to take dexterity into account, which maxes at 25? (I seem to remember reading that). Id be interested if anyone knows the AD&D ruleset well enough to give me an answer. :D [ 05-21-2005, 02:01 PM: Message edited by: Soothsayer ] |
technically AC maxes after -10, but I've gotten -14 without spells on a dwarven cleric.
|
My paladin has an unbuffed AC of -15. Buffed, its something like -24.
|
From a rpg point of view, i would never solo. Who would he talk to? A duo is better. Like a Male Paladin and a Female cleric/mage. There is more 'fun'.

Meh, I don't disregard roleplayers, though I'm not one myself. I usually don't solo, but I have beaten the game with a full party before and am challenging myself at the moment. Also, I seriously doubt that a chick with 18 INT will have much to talk about with a guy with 3 INT ;) |

But for a rp point of view I like the whole idea of one-man-against-the-world, seems cool to me, and reminds me of the salvatore books. |
