one thing that IWD could have that's there in BG is the fighter subclasses. perhaps one day a kensai-monk could be available.

Only clerics are really different.
Paladins and monks of different orders are exactly same in terms of abilities and so on. in fact for single class monks and paladins (or those who are multiclassed with anything else but a fighter, sorcerer, rogue, or cleric of ilmater) there is no difference whatsoever

IIRC, IWD1 came out a couple months before BG2 was released.


Also, while IWD2 doesn't have kits, the incredible flexibility of IWD2's 3e system, 3e multiclassing, feats, and skills allows you to create your own "kits", so to speak, although they certainly won't be as high-powered (some might say, overpowered) as their BG2 counterparts.
