Question: I have a human fighter /thief that uses a bow and during combat this character will all of a sudden start hand combat. I can't understand why. I have two pure fighters with swords who do not do this. My fighter/thief is able to use both bows and crossbows and it happens with both weapons. Is it because of certain creatures that my character engages?
Thanks for your input and time. |
It could be an AI script you have enabled, telling him to use a melee weapon in melee combat. If so I'd suggest either changing the script, or equipping a melee weapon in a quickslot.

You absolutely need a melee weapon. There is a hefty penalty for using a bow at close range. The AI is looking for a close range weapon and it found... your fists.

Whether or not you put a melee weapon into a quick slot (and I agree that you should); the best advice is to turn off your party A.I. In many situations the IWD party A.I. will kill your party more quickly than the monsters you face. You've already seen one shining example of bad A.I. decisions. Later on your Fighters will get the itch to switch from ranged to melee weapons and rush to the very spot where your Mage is casting a Fireball, or where a Skull Trap is waiting, and other such nonsense. </font>--------------------<font color = mediumspringgreen> What's a party, without a song? Bards ROCK! Party On!! </font> |
