This one is for the pros:
Is there a "Sister Calliana" quest? I've seen some game data that refers to a "cloak of burdened spirits" (+1 WIS, usuable only by good characters), and the "glory of suffering" (details below), but have never encountered anything like this in the game. The Glory of Suffering This armor was a gift from Sister Calliana for saving the soul of the Voice of Durdel Anatha. It was once worn by a humble paladin of Ilmater named Idstan the Simple. Donning the armor is a painful process, as it drives small spikes into the flesh of the wearer and weighs an incredible amount. In exchange for this sacrifice, the armor protects the wearer from attacks on his or her person. The armor is shining silver, but there is always fresh blood staining its surface, even when it is not being worn. STATISTICS: Armor Class: -3 Special: The wearer's maximum hit points are reduced by 25. While wearing the armor, the wearer has a +10% bonus to resist all Slashing, Piercing, Bludgeoning, and Missile attacks. Weight: 80 Not Usable By: Evil or Neutral characters Druid Mage Thief Bard [ 11-19-2004, 12:04 PM: Message edited by: Otto ] |
Otto,
Never heard of the quest, nor the armor; but, evidently, someone has (heard of the armor, that is): Quote:
dont use it, it is TERRIBLE. if you equip and unequip it for couple times, you will end up dead. like myself[/QUOTE]EDIT: Moot point, but **IF** it were wearable by a Thief or Mage (without blanking out any skills) it might be worth donning ONCE and never taking it off. Others, however, can achieve this AC without so much sacrifice. -------------------- What's a party, without a song? Bards ROCK! The info provided by 250 doesn't sound right. There's at least four items that are a potential gift from Sister Calliana (who is in Kuldahar) for saving the soul of the Voice of Durdel Anatha (whatever that means).
These are: - Glory of Suffering - Robes of Agony (see description below) - Cloak of Burdened Spirits (see description below) - Armor of the Penitent (see description below) My guess is that there's supposed to be a mini-quest where one of these items is a random reward. Maybe the developers never finished the quest, maybe there's a bug in the game, or maybe it's just something I overlooked. If anyone knows for sure, don't be shy... ROBES OF AGONY These heavy robes were a gift from Sister Calliana for saving the soul of the Voice of Durdel Anatha. They were originally worn by a repentant evil sorcerer who had destroyed a village for his own dark purposes. They are as white as snow and appear soft and supple. STATISTICS: Armor Class: 5 Special: User is always under the effects of a Symbol of Pain, as though being pierced by thorns at all times. +15 hit points while equipped. Weight: 35 Only Usable By: Good characters Cleric (Single, Dual-, and Multi-) Mage (Single, Dual-, and Multi-) CLOAK OF BURDENED SPIRITS This incredibly heavy cloak was a gift from Sister Calliana for saving the soul of the Voice of Durdel Anatha. It was originally worn by a penitent necromancer who was ashamed at how he had abused the souls of the dead. The cloak is dark grey and made of five layers of thick, heavy wool. STATISTICS: Weight: 80 Wisdom: +1 Only Usable By: Good characters ARMOR OF THE PENTITENT This suit of heavy studded leather armor was a gift from Sister Calliana for saving the soul of the Voice of Durdel Anatha. It was originally worn by a Tormish thief named Rendel to repent for his crimes. The armor is made of red leather and bronze studs. STATISTICS: Armor Class: 2 Dexterity: -1 Special: -25% to all Thief skills Weight: 35 Only Usable By: Thief (Single, Dual-, and Multi-Class) [ 11-19-2004, 06:26 PM: Message edited by: Otto ] |
Otto,
Could be; and I understand the similarity in the way the description starts out and that of the other items. However, the fact that it shows up in an area totally unrelated, yet has a storyline about the sister is not wierd at all. Although I can not recall a specific example off the tip of my brain, I know that there are other items that had storylines tied to NPCs the party meets, yet were not in quests nor were in any other way tied to the NPC by in-game actions (e.g. pickpocket, etc.). -------------------- What's a party, without a song? SPOILERS
- - - I've been thinking about it, and I seem to remember the gnomes in LDD tell you to get the food from the Palace of Durdel Anatha. This might be another name for Marketh's Palace, and Marketh, himself, may be the "Voice of Durdel Anatha". I'm thinking it's possible that there might have been some option where you could have "saved the soul of the Voice of Durel Anatha" by turning Marketh good (maybe with a LG Cleric or Paladin), and then you'd receive the random reward if you returned to Kuldahar and talked with Sister Calliana. This is only a guess... I also remember that in IWD2, one of the graves was inscripted "the Voice of Durdel Anatha", alongside with the graves of Hrothgar, Mother Eugenia, and others...hmmm... That explains it then.
I wonder why they didn't just implement the AI script for the quest when they made the patches and expansions.... Those items are pretty cool. |
Yes, too bad they didn't do it. The more magic, the better. ;)
