I never used the "Young Rage" axe (found in HoW) due to my fear of it after reading its description. It's true that it makes your character APPEAR to be in a state of Berserk, but they actually don't ACT like they are.
Has anyone’s character acted Berserk when the axe's spell kicked in? If not, this axe definitely replaces my Dwarf Fighter's "The Celebrant's Blade" found in IWD. During my testing of the axe, I summoned some beetles to hack up, and one of the beetles that I hit didn't go POOF--like they usually do. It went SPLAT--instead. I've never seen one of my summoned beetles do this. I'm going to like this axe. Note that my Dwarf has a STR of 19 (thanks to the Ring of Dwarven Bone...hee, hee, hee.) |
Never mind--more testing was done:
You don't go into a state of Berserk until there are enemies around (red circles.) Interesting. |
I once gave this nice axe to my dwarf (single class fighter, Level 20) and he hacked away enemies that it was a joy to watch, till everyone lay dead - well, exept my party so he killed my cute cleric/mage with two blows before he went after my single class mage - and she could not even run away as he was hasted and had boots of speed ...

was this the only thing that was affecting him crawford? are you sure he was not dire charmed or anything?. I have used young rage a few times and this has never happened to me (the interparty killing that is)i was just wondering.lol ive have just had a vision! i have a feeling that there is only a CHANCE that ur beefed up warrior will go crazy after he has kiled everyone eg. say it is 5% chance that after (*insert overpowered tank here*) has killed evryone in sight the power of the weapon overtakes him and he kills all the pretty little clerics. or sumthing like that it has been a while since i played HoW.
