This is my first post and I was trying to download the patch for the game that is on this forum and is unable to do it what's going on am I doing something wrong? Thanks for your time

Which patch did you try to download? There's a v.1.06 for Icewind Dale (without Heart of Winter), a v.1.41 for HoW, and Trials of the Luremaster which is a HoW expansion and contains the 1.42 patch for HoW.

If the links on this website don't work, there should be several sites on the web that have the patches. Google should give you some leads. Off the top of my head, I think Sorcerorsplace, Noctalis, and Fileplanet have the patches. It is difficult to find the Trials download, however. The official Interplay site is kaput, and many links to the Trials dl lead you to Fileplanet, which I found to be a very frustrating experience.

D'oh. Just clued in. If you tried to download Trials from this site, it probably connected you to the Interplay site. Interplay is in the process of going under, so I think their website may not be up anymore. Nothing to do with you, just the business world dismantling the best CRPG company that's ever existed.

Try to get it from somewhere else. This is a great game, and well worth the effort it takes to patch it.

I actually found the trials of the luremaster expansion/patch on download.com a week or two ago. Seemed an odd place to find it, but atleast it is still available.

I've got a question about the download.com site. I noticed that it said it was the UK 1.42 patch. Is the UK ToTL version compatible with the North American version of HoW? If so, that would be much better than using Fileplanet.

I havn't started ToTL yet, but it installed fine and I havn't seen any problems playing up to chapter 4 yet.
Maybe they'll starting saying "colour" and such when I get to the luremaster section but I'm guessing there shouldn't be any problems.

"Colour." [img]smile.gif[/img] Suits me fine, I'm Canadian. We like to keep old archaic spellings with extra letters. It helps to distinguish us from the USA, which is very important to us identity-conscious people. Have you seen the latest (awful) Molson Canadian commercials? (probably not, I expect they only show them in Canada as they can be offensive to anyone without a rabid anti-American inferiority complex). I don't know why anyone would even drink that beer, it's terrible. The local breweries in BC are amazing.

Anyway... back to IWD. I'll try download.com if I have any problems with ToTL. The first time I got it off Fileplanet it was corrupted, and their whole downloading process is a pain.
