Hallo all, I have a question that perhaps you could answer for me. I played through IWD and loaded up HOW as well as the patches. Now here is what is odd to me. My PC's had accrued over 300,000 gps in IWD however in HOW that is all gone. Also playing HOW I noticed that a High charisma is better to have for the minor quest completion exps. In IWD, charisma I left by the way side thus my PC's are at a disadvantage. Basically I'm asking 2 things:
1. Will I ever see all my gold again? 2. Is there a way to boost charisma in HOW? My pcs consist of 2 Fighters 2 Clerics 1 awesome thief & 1 awesome Mage thanks in advance for any input. |
1) Did you go to HoW from within the IWD game, or did you import an IWD game? If you imported, you restart the gold.
2) There is always a certain level 1 Wizard spell. |
Thanks for the response, I imported as I wanted to beat the first story line before moving on. Too bad about the gold, It would have come in real handy. I'll try the spell. thx again

Olaf,
Now that you've completed IWD, if you have a save from just before meeting RBP, you can start from that save and go back to Kuldahar and start HoW from within IWD. From an in-game perspective, your party hasn't beaten the final boss, yet; but, hey, you know what they can do. If you find the last suggestion unacceptable, here is another possibility: Use Dalekeeper (free download) to hack your hard earned gold back into your pockets. From a role playing perspective, I see no problem with that at all. What's a party, without a song? Bards ROCK! Party On!! |
Hey Nick, thank you for the suggestions. I decided to rough it out and continue on with out the gold. I never have had much luck hacking files in other games. I'm just a regular guy with minimal computer skills. It is a great game so far though....

Olaf,
As you wish. But, if that is your only reason, Dalekeeper is very intuitive and easy to use; and for something as simple as gold or equipment, is glitch-free. What's a party, without a song? Bards ROCK! Party On!! |
Olaf,
Losing all that gold is a bummer. My answer to that was to import one of the canned characters from the game, loot all his stuff, then sell it. Some might consider it cheating, but I don't see it that way because you left IWD rich. The only reason you have no gold now is mechanics of how you installed and proceeded with the game. Looting an import is more of a correction. Lymond |
OK. I'm a little concerned about this HOW stuff. I'm playing IWD on WINXP right now and it was recommended to me that I install HOW so it'll be fully patched and such...If I do this in the middle of IWD will I still be able to continue about my normal business in IWD? or will my game be deleted and wil I be forced to start HOW right away?
|
You will be able to continue your IWD with no ill effects...
Small changes will include items added to stores, highlight with Alt key, change of specialist wizard oppsition schools (though those already written in spell books wont be deleted)... |
NewbietoRPGs,
To really get the full and final patch, you need to download Trials of the Luremaster (often abbreviated as TOTLM or TOLM, if you want to search for it in prior posts). Doing this will not erase your current game. That being said, I would back up your saved game files to another location, just to be safe. Lymond |
