I know it's probably somewhere noted within the game, but since i'm not a true englishman i can't read long stories and histories in those books..... what who is baldur/balder ?
(the 'balder' thing comes from a burzum album named 'daudi balders' (balders death) so i'm getting quirious in here...... |
The city of Baldur's Gate is named after a famous explorer called Balduran. As far as I can recall from what I've read in-game, he was very rich from sailing to far-flung lands & findign lots & lots of treasure. With this money he built a wall around his home port, which eventually became to be known as Baldur's Gate.
The actual story is a bit more complicaetd than that, but I don't remember enough to tell it confidently. |
After that Baldur left and never came back. I think theres something about that in totsc... dont know ive never played it. The farmers in Baldur's Gate began to charge the sea captains to enter the walls. The captains iirc kicked their arses and set themselves up as the grand dukes.

Yep, most of the history is contained in the manual, except for his final voyage....the clues to which will be revealed in ToSC, although the exact details still remain kind of sketchy.
I've heard he was a Dwarf, but I just can't image a Dwarf having a good time on board a ship. |
