He's human, male and level 4 but the dual-class button is greyed out. What am I doing wrong? I'm thinking of dual-classing imoen too, to a mage, and her dual-class button is enabled.

PS why can't I search the board?

You need minimun STR 15 and 17 in either DEX, INT or WIS to dual-class to theif, mage or cleric respectively (their primary charactiristics).

Imoen can dual-class to mage having DEX > 15 (18) and INT 17

P.S. The search-function have been temporarily disabled.

So I need minimum

Strenght = 15
Intelligence = 17

to dualclass to mage? And this must be base I take. I just want it set so I can hack my main character and dual class him, I don't wanto start a new game... are there any other way to change a character? Can I use a "command-line" command to "conjure" a tome of intelligence that will increase my INT hmmm I think i'll use an editor.

sorry just thinking out loud.

Gambler,
you can use the CLUAConsole:CreateItem("xxxx") cheat if you know the code for the desired tome. If you're really that desperate to dual-class, you can find the codes at the ironworks gaming site. (see link in top-left corner of window.

strength is BOOK04 and int is BOOK06

I'm not sure I quite understand this. For all my Human characters the Dual Class button is active and I can click on it to bring up the list of options, but of course all the options are 'greyed out'. Only NPCs that can't dual have the button greyed, either wrong class (Bard, Ranger, etc) or wrong race (all non-humans). So Gambler, what's going on?

SixOfSpades 07-22-2002 05:32 PM

Gambler, the exact requirements for Dual-classig ARE:

1) You must be Human.
2) You must be at least Level 2.
3) You must be a class that can Dual-Class (anything except Paladin, Bard and in BG2, Barbarian, Monk, and Sorcerer).
4) You must have a score of at least 15 in the Primary Stat of your FIRST class (Fighters & Rangers need 15 STR, Clerics & Druids need 15 WIS, Thieves need 15 DEX, and Mages need 15 INT).

If you fulfill ALL of the above 4 conditions, your "Dual-Class" button will not be greyed out.

5) You must have a score of at least 17 in the Primary stat of your SECOND class (see the list above). Note that if you wish to Dual to a Druid, you require 17 CHA as well.
6) You cannot Dual to a class that conflicts with your Aligment.

Thanks, I did find the cheat and the commands, now I only have to wait until my character is level 5 then I'll give him some tomes and dualclass him.

I installed BG, then ToSC and played the game through one time (with a fighter) then I installed the unofficial addon Dark side of the sword coast and started a new game with a fighter:

str: 13
DXT: 14
CON: 12
INT: 16
WIZ: 14
CAR: 14

edit: DXT base was 14 not 18 I used some gauntlets that set DXT to 18.

Another question, if I dualclass a fighter into a mage, what fighter abilities does he have? Will he get them back when he's "finished" as a mage (mage level has reached his fighter lvl)?

And what about dualing imoen into a mage, can she use a bow when her mage lvl has reached her thief lvl? And what about armor of a dualclassed fighter/thief -> mage? Can imoen use a leather armor when her mage lvl has reached thief lvl (and she finally can use her thief skills)?

As jaihera is wearing an armor (plate mail) and she can cast spells, I take a multiclassed fighter/druid can wear armor and cast spells. But what about a fighter/cleric? Is there a way for a fighter to cast mage spells and wear armor? I'm thinking of having a fighter cast mage spells...

Is there a way for imoen to use a bow+bracers of archery and cast mage spells?

A fighter/mage cannot wear armor and cast spells, unless that armor happens to be of the cloak variety especialy the archmagi cloaks which can put you at an AC of -1 with out spell bonuses or rings/necklaces of protection, etc. fighter/clerics and fighter/druids can cast spells with armor on because the rules never restricted clerics or druids from spellcasting with armor on. Your fighter will not be able to use any fighter abilities untill your mage level reaches your fighter level. And you haven't technically finished the mage when the levels match as your mage levels will continue to increase while fighter levels remain at a standstill.

P.S. sorry for the lengthy report; I have this wierd tendency to disect every tiny portion of the post to which I am replying.
