whats exp capped at? and what level can you achieve on average with your party?
also what is the normal range of levels acheived when you complete the game? |
I think that EXP cap is around 1.8 million (without expansion).
When I played the game through first time, I had about 1 million exp points (6 character party, difficulty: core rules) Now I'm playing secong time through, but now with insane difficulty (2x more experience) I'm in Lower Dorn's Deep and my 6 characters have 1.5 million exp points. |
XP cap for IWD is 1.8 million - but the realistic xp limit if you do EVERY quest is around 1.0 to 1.2 million for a party of six. Scale the expected xp UP if you have fewer than six in your party.
With TOLM installed, the xp cap is 30th level PER class. So a multi-classed fighter/mage/thief can get to 30/30/30. That sort of character is attainable only if you play in HOF mode with a party of two characters. It's been so long since I played HOW that I honesty don't remember the xp cap - but I think it may have been similiar to TOLM. |
The XP cap is 30 per class, but the beauty of IWD is that you can actively import your entire party into a new game. That way you can play over and over until you reach it. Nice or what.
Of course I should have said that 30 is with HoW/TotLM installed. With a party of six on average difficulty, you should finish the game around the 14-18 level mark (if all are single class) I think. [ 01-15-2003, 07:37 PM: Message edited by: Lord Brass ] |
You can import over and over again, but its more fun and MUCH more challenging to start a NEW 2 person party from scratch in HOF. Time to ROCK AND ROLL!!! lol

yeah i liked that feature with baldurs gate too probably scared the poo out of sarevok when my level 6 main char started in candlekeep again and went on to clear the nashkel mines in a record time of 5 mins (ignoring all but one subplot and running straight through the traps and worthless beasties to get straight to the boss) id probably reimport my party once i complete the game once then play through on insane difficulty with my imported party for a 2nd time

Nah, that would just annoy me starting with an uber character.

its quite interesting, you see the game in a different light, least i did with baldurs gate, after id completed it twice i played first with lvl 6 party then went one step further and gatekeeper'ed an entire party to 25 across the board, and they were still vulnerable in places like durlags, even with obscene stats and equipment they still could die if you didnt use tactics, that says the game is balanced superbly if even cheat chars can still find certain sections a problem if they just wade in, nice to know my tactics really did help me win the game.
