I killed the Demon Knights, Invisible Stalkers, etc., etc., and then agreed to retrieve the Helm of Balduran for the mage Dromlek. I then brought back to life the statued adventuerers and read the scroll that one of them gave me. It took me a minute or two but I finally figured that Helm and Cloak Inn would be the most logical place to look. So after the big bar brawl I started looking around the walls, the plants, the tables, the barrels, and the chests. Nothing. So I go upstairs and charm one of the guards, and start looking again. Nothing. Then I go back down to the main floor and start looking for a secret entrance or something.

What the heck ?!$!%? I never saw those stairs there before. So I go up the stairs located in the back of the bar and find the fabuled Helm. Yippeee! Now I look back at that semi-helpful scroll for clues as to where this cloak is. And it says that a person named Quenash held the CLOAK (then died). Then it goes on by saying that the cloak SHOULD be located with the Helm (but it's NOT). Where is this darned fetchin' Cloak? Any help would be nice, HOWEVER I WOULD PREFER CLUES AND NOT ALL-OUT SPOILERS! Thank you very much!

So hints only huh? Well okay, I'll help you out with the Cloak.

Hint: Lets just say this Quenash is what you might call a 'lady of the night' if you know what I mean. *nudge, nudge* ;)

I think I've pointed you in the right direction.

Well there's plenty of those types around this town.
BTW, I have never really explored the undercellar much and have heard that there are "shady folk" down there. Would this be a good place to start looking? Or should I stay above ground, you know, the taverns and brothels?

The Ozzman 07-19-2002 01:33 PM

there is a cloak of balduran?

Probably not. I'm unsure of the name for this particular Cloak. I'm lumping the Balduran Helm along with this Cloakofsomethingoranother because they are both to be found under the same quest. So sorry for any confusion. But then again maybe there is a Cloak of Balduran... I'm not positive?

Midget Gems 07-19-2002 02:39 PM

Yes, Quenash still has the Cloak of Balduran - good hunting!

Died? Where does it say that? Oh, waaait....the part where it says she's "fallen," right? Well, if Quenash was a MAN, I'd read that word to mean "fallen on a battlefield," but since he's a she, Quenash is probably a "fallen woman."

Of course, you've already received several hints in this direction, but now *I* understand it, and that's what counts.

P.S. SMALL BG2 SPOILERS

If you get the Bonus Merchants addition for BG2, you can also buy Balduran's Sword, Shield, and Plate Armor. What, no Belt or Boots? I wanted the complete set......He wasn't just a pioneer and sea captain, he was a world-class merchandiser.

Six, you're reminding me of that funny commercial that aired about 7-8 years ago. It was about that health emergency device for senior citizens. Where this old hag falls down and screams into the device which has contacted 911. She says, "I'm falling and I can't get up!"

Anyhue, I thought that there already was a Sword of Balduran in BG1?? Isn't it found at that ship/island of wolves?? I heard that it is a nearly worthless sword because it's only bonus is against wolves (Lycanthypes) or something of that ilk?

Yes there is two swords of Balduran - but then again you can dual-wield in BG2

SixOfSpades 07-20-2002 06:21 PM

The Sword of Balduran from BG1 is gone in BG2, so no Dual-Wielding, sorry. But that's OK, the BG2 version is much better.

Let's test your Cultural Literacy, Midget Gems.....

I'm pretending to write a MOD for BG2/ToB, which adds a quest that leads you deep into the desert. (I'm using the Basilisk Map and the Nashkel Mines Back Exit maps for the desert part.) Anyhow, right in the middle of the 2nd map is, for no real reason, a Horse. You don't fight him or talk to him, he's just a Horse, who inexplicably has no name.
