Patching IWD/HOW

<font color=silver>Since we’ve had another group of folks looking for patches for their games, it seemed like a good idea to make the information a bit easier to find.</font>

First determine which version of the game you have:

<font color=white>Go to windows explorer. Find the main directory where IWD is installed. Search for a file called IDMain.exe and right click on the name. In the pull down menu, select "properties" and then in the window that opens up, select Version.

<font color=turquoise>Here's how it breaks down:

V1.4.2 = IWD + HOW + TOL

V1.4.1 = IWD + HOW + HOW Patch
V1.4.0 = IWD + HOW

V1.0.6 = IWD + Latest IWD patch</font color=turquoise>

Anything BEFORE V1.0.6 means that you should download the latest patch and install it. It also means that you do NOT have HOW installed!</font> * Thanks to Micah Foehammer for the above information.

Second, find and install the patch you need:

<font color=turquoise>For IWD without HOW the latest patch is v.1.06. It can be downloaded here.
2. The free expansion TOL acts as a more recent patch. It is a very large download, but is a cool dungeon crawl as well as being a patch. It can be downloaded <font color=plum>NOTE to Mac users:</font> The information given above is for the PC version of the game. There is a Macintosh version of IWD that has been released and there is a patch for that version to address compatibilty issues with OS X 10.2. I am not sure whether or not HOW has been released in a MAC specific version yet. Can anyone clue us in on this?</font>

It should be released for mac, seeing as IWII is coming for mac in about a month!
