My first trek through I never even found him. I found the extract but was never able to get to his lair. Fortunately I got help right here!
So now I'm back, crawling along that skinny little path and finally reach him. I go in and seem to answer any way I can that won't piss him off but next thing you know, it's him or me. I'm wondering if it was my party. I have a cleric/ranger of good alignment that I use as the head of the party when in town but otherwise I lead with my evil dwarf and unfortunatley forgot to switch before speaking to him. My other two chars are evil too. Is this why he turned on me or is he just a little touchy? |
Peyton, the dialogue options for Bandoth can be a bit tricky. He seems to have been designed with a fairly temperamental personality and so if he perceives himself to have been insulted [or possibly if the party mentions 'snooping around'] in the conversation he will attack. I'm not sure how much of this is dependant upon the particular character that speaks with him and how much is simply a product of the way the dialogue options work.
As he does have a few spells to barter that are only available from him in the basic IWD campaign, it is a good idea to save the game before speaking with him just in case things go badly. |
Actually, his quest is majorly bugged. If you find the Razorvine Extract before you get the quest from him, he treats you like you've already spoken about the quest and you told him to 'forget it'. Sorry to say it, but I'm pretty sure there's no way to fix it. Hope you weren't looking forward to those Elemental Summoning Scrolls...

Sorry to hear about your problems with this guy. As a side note I like to give him the potion to solve the quest and then kill him for his rudeness, actually I make sure I buy his spells before finishing him off.

Yeah, it's a shame that this section is so badly in need of repairs. I can't remember the exact sequence of dialogue that you have to go through. Don't worry though Peytin. Although the spells are nice to have, they're not that special really, and you can easily get by without them. However, what is annoying is that there's only one set of each.
Anyone remember what he has if you pickpocket him? [ 10-16-2002, 06:42 PM: Message edited by: Lord Brass ] |
Thanks for the hints. After all, I will be back...(HOW should arrive by UPS today so I'm sure I'll be doing it all over again.)
