Hi

I've only just started playing Icewind Dale but have noticed that when I click the 'hide in shadows' button for my thief it makes the noise like he's hiding in shadows and it even comes up in the dialogue box saying 'hide in shadows' but the character doesnt become shaded like he should do. any enemy nearby immediatly spot him and start attacking.

Its not that he even fails to hide. At least then you get a message saying 'hide in shadows failed'

Ive tried looking for patches but i use an applemac and cant seem to find one that will help.

Any ideas would be greatly appriciated.

When hiding in the shadows this can happen frequently even if you are above 100%. It isn't a bug because I have all the patches. I think it may have more to do with the lighting in the area. Have him move to a shadow and wait a bit, if he still doesn't hide hit the button again to take him off hide then when you can try hiding him again.

Hiding dosent become active till the end of the round you hid ein. Depending on when you click the button, that could be up to 7 seconds. HoS should be used a while before you expect to encounter the enemy, and make sure it activates before you go exploring.
